WHAT IS A PHOBIA?
A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder. It is an extreme form of fear or anxiety, triggered by a particular situation or object.

You may even feel this extreme anxiety when you think or talk about the situation or object.

Many of us have fears about particular situations or objects. This is perfectly normal. A fear becomes a phobia if:
-
the fear is out of proportion to the danger
-
it lasts for more than six months
-
it has a significant impact on how you live your day-to-day life.
-

Phobias can develop around any object or situation. Some people may experience multiple phobias. They can be broadly categorised into two groups:

Specific phobias: These are phobias about a specific object or situation, such as spiders or flying.

Complex phobias: Complex phobias tend to have a more disruptive or overwhelming impact on your life than specific phobias. They tend to develop in adulthood. They are more general in that they aren't attached to a specific object or things. Examples of complex phobias are agoraphobia and emetophobia.

HOW CAN HYPNOTHERAPY HELP?
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy for phobias and fears can be a highly effective treatment option, as it allows individuals to access and reprogram the subconscious beliefs and patterns of behaviour that contribute to their phobia or fear.
At our Initial Consultation I will explain what is happening in your mind when you have a phobia. In understanding why your body has this response and what happening to you, you'll be in a position to change it.
Hypnosis creates a restful response in the body and mind, relieving stress, which in turn can have a calming response on the phobia response. Using powerful suggestion during trance, we work to relieve the symptoms of your phobia, helping you manage everyday life.

For simple phobias, I would normally expect to help a client in 4 sessions. For complex phobias it will take longer.
