Anxiety Therapy in Surrey

You don't have to keep managing this on your own.

Maybe anxiety has become the background noise of your life. The tight chest before meetings. The thoughts that spiral at 2am. The sense that you're holding everything together on the outside while something underneath feels increasingly hard to manage.

You might have tried to push through. Told yourself it's just stress. Or that you’re not resilient enough. Or even inadequate. Wondered whether you're making too much of it — or not enough.

You're not making too much of it. And you don't have to figure it out alone.

What I offer

A different kind of anxiety support

I'm Ros Dodd — a therapist based in Leatherhead, Surrey, working with people who are struggling with anxiety, worry, panic and stress. I work with clients in person and online, and I offer a free initial consultation so you can get a feel for the work before committing to anything.

My approach draws on the latest understanding of how anxiety works in the brain and nervous system. Rather than just talking about what's wrong, we work directly with the patterns that are keeping you stuck — gently, at your pace, and with your goals at the centre.

The main tools I use are clinical hypnotherapy and coaching — a well-evidenced, deeply relaxing approach that works with the unconscious mind to shift the patterns that keep anxiety going. It's nothing like stage hypnosis. You're fully in control throughout, and most people find the sessions genuinely calming, even from the first appointment.

I also draw on solution focused therapy, neuroscience, and, where relevant, parts-based and somatic approaches — whatever is most useful for you as an individual.

Who come to see me?

People come to me with all kinds of anxiety — and from all kinds of starting points. Some have had therapy before; some have never spoken to anyone about how they're feeling. Some know exactly what's driving their anxiety; others just know something needs to change.

I work with people experiencing:

  • Generalised anxiety — persistent worry, overthinking, difficulty switching off

  • Panic attacks and fear of panic

  • Social anxiety and confidence issues

  • Health anxiety

  • Work-related stress and burnout

  • Low mood alongside anxiety

  • Anxiety linked to a specific life event or transition

  • Anxiety that hasn't responded well to other approaches

  • Phobias

Many of my clients have considered counselling or CBT, or have tried them, and are looking for something that works a little differently — something that reaches the part of them that talking alone doesn't always touch. If that sounds like you, it might be worth a conversation.

What to expect

A word about hypnotherapy & coaching

The NHS recognises clinical hypnotherapy as a valid therapeutic approach, effectively treating anxiety, phobias, IBS, and other conditions. If you've searched for an anxiety therapist rather than a hypnotherapist, that's completely fine — and quite common. Many of my clients weren't sure about hypnotherapy when they first got in touch.

It's not about being 'under someone's control' or doing something against your will — that's stage hypnosis, which is a performance, not a therapy.

In a session, hypnotherapy involves a state of focused relaxation — something like being absorbed in a good book, or that drowsy clarity just before sleep. In that state, we can work directly with the patterns and responses that are maintaining your anxiety, in a way that often feels easier and less effortful than purely conscious approaches.

Most people are surprised by how straightforward — and how deeply relaxing — it is.
