Ready to stop smoking?
Hypnotherapy can support you in breaking the habits and associations that keep you reaching for a cigarette — helping you approach stopping with a calmer, clearer mindset.
You already know you want to stop
Most people who smoke don't need convincing. You know it's affecting your health, your energy, your finances — and probably your self-image too. What's hard isn't the decision. It's the doing.
Smoking isn't just a physical habit — it's a deeply embedded pattern of thought, feeling and behaviour. Every time you've reached for a cigarette when stressed, bored, after a meal or with a drink, your brain has reinforced that association. Willpower alone has to work against those associations. Hypnotherapy works with your mind to begin loosening them.
How hypnotherapy helps you stop smoking
Solution focused hypnotherapy approaches smoking cessation differently from patches, gum or sheer determination. Rather than focusing on what you're giving up, we focus on who you want to become — and we use hypnosis to begin embedding that shift at a subconscious level, where habits are formed and held.
During hypnosis, your mind enters a deeply relaxed, focused state in which it tends to be more receptive to new ideas and associations. We use this to begin replacing automatic responses around smoking with ones more aligned with the non-smoker you want to be. Many clients find the process feels more manageable than previous attempts to stop — though as with all therapeutic work, individual experiences and outcomes vary.
The programme
Stopping smoking with me is a dedicated two-session programme. This matters — because your relationship with smoking is unique to you, and the more we understand it, the more tailored and effective the work can be.
Session 1 — Preparation (60 minutes) We explore your history with smoking — when you started, what it gives you, what triggers it, and what stopping means to you. We look at the neuroscience of habit and why previous attempts may not have worked. You leave with a clearer sense of your own motivation and a first experience of hypnosis to begin shifting your mindset.
Session 2 — Stop Smoking (60 minutes) This is the core session of the programme. Using a personalised hypnosis protocol, we work directly with the unconscious patterns and associations that have kept you smoking, introducing new ways of thinking and responding as a non-smoker. Many clients leave this session feeling calm and clear, with a noticeably different relationship with the idea of smoking.
Total investment: £200 (Both sessions included. Sessions available in person in Leatherhead, Surrey or online via Zoom across the UK.)

Is this right for me?
Hypnotherapy for smoking cessation tends to work best when you genuinely want to stop for your own reasons — not because someone else wants you to. If your motivation is your own, many people find this a helpful and supportive way to approach stopping.
It may be particularly suitable for:
Long-term smokers who have tried other methods without lasting success
People who smoke primarily in response to stress, anxiety or habit
Those who would prefer to stop without relying on nicotine replacement
Vapers looking to break free from nicotine dependency
FAQs
How many sessions does it take? The programme is two sessions. The first is a preparation session where we explore your relationship with smoking and begin the work. The second is the core stop smoking session. Both are 60 minutes and included in the £200 fee.
I've tried hypnotherapy before and it didn't work — is it worth trying again? Previous experience of hypnotherapy not working is often down to the approach or the fit with the therapist rather than anything about you. The two-session model we use takes time to understand your specific patterns and motivations, which tends to make the work more effective than a generic single-session approach.
Will I put on weight? Weight gain after stopping is common but not inevitable. We address this directly in the programme to help you stop smoking without replacing one habit with another.
Does this work for vaping too? Yes — the same patterns of habit, association and emotional dependency apply to vaping, and hypnotherapy can be a helpful support in breaking the cycle. Do mention this when we speak so we can tailor the programme accordingly.
What if I'm not fully ready to stop? That's worth an honest conversation before you book. The programme works best when you genuinely want to stop — if you're feeling ambivalent, it may be worth exploring that first. I'm happy to talk it through on a free initial call.
