Hypnotherapy for Phobias in Surrey and Online
Stop letting fear make your decisions — and start living freely again
Do you recognise this?
You've changed your route to avoid the motorway. You've turned down a holiday because of flying. You've delayed medical treatment because of a fear of needles. Or perhaps you've simply stopped talking about it — because you know it sounds irrational, even to you.
Phobias are one of the most common reasons people seek hypnotherapy — and one of the conditions that responds fastest. Most clients see significant change within just a few sessions.
What is a phobia?
A phobia is an intense, persistent fear of a specific object, situation or experience that is out of proportion to any actual danger. It's classified as an anxiety disorder — which means it involves your nervous system responding as though there is genuine threat, even when your rational mind knows there isn't.
Phobias typically fall into five categories:
Situational fears (flying, driving, lifts, enclosed spaces)
Natural environment fears (heights, water, storms, darkness)
Animal fears (spiders, dogs, birds, insects)
Medical fears (needles, blood, vomiting, medical procedures)
Other specific fears (choking, loud noises, MRI machines, vomiting)
Whatever your phobia, the mechanism is the same — and so is the solution..
How hypnotherapy treats phobias
Phobias are learned responses. Somewhere along the way your brain made a connection between a particular object or situation and the feeling of danger — and now that connection fires automatically, before your rational mind has a chance to intervene.
Hypnotherapy works directly with that connection. Using a combination of solution focused hypnotherapy, neuroscience-informed techniques and clinical hypnosis, I help you:
Understand the neuroscience of how your phobia developed and why it feels so real
Gently reprocess the association between the trigger and the fear response
Build new, calm neural pathways to replace the old ones
Develop practical tools to manage anxiety in the moment
Gradually rebuild confidence around the thing you've been avoiding
You won't be forced to confront your fear head-on. We work at your pace, in a safe and supportive environment.

What to expect
Sessions last 50-60 minutes and take place in person in Leatherhead, Surrey or online across the UK. Most clients need between 3 and 6 sessions, though this varies depending on the phobia and how long it has been present. Specific phobias often respond particularly quickly.
We start with a free 20-minute consultation — a relaxed conversation about your phobia, how it affects your life, and how we might work together.
